Summary:  In some circles the Holy Spirit can feel like an afterthought mentioned only for the sake of maintaining an orthodox trinitarian theology. In other circles, the Holy Spirit feels like the only thought that is mentioned! Who (or….what?) is the Holy Spirit? What does he do? What is his role in God’s plan of redemption? What his role in your salvation, your on-going sanctification? Join us as we ground ourselves in scripture’s teaching concerning the person and work of the Spirit and grow into a deeper and richer walk with our triune God!

Summary:  Numbers? Really? Of all the books in the Bible why choose that one to teach? Of course the big answer to that is “all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable…” (2 Tim. 3:16). But beyond this, Numbers is a more important book than you probably realize. For one thing, it’s part of the Pentateuch (the first 5 books of the Bible written by Moses), which is an extremely important section of Scripture. It also contains some of the most well-known and important stories in the Bible (i.e., the 12 spies, Israel’s 40-year wilderness wandering, Korah’s rebellion, Moses striking the rock, the bronze serpent on a pole, Balaam’s talking donkey and 4 oracles, etc.). It also contains other material which turns out to be important in the storyline of Scripture (i.e., instructions for the Nazirite vow, the Aaronic Blessing, laws about intentional vs. unintentional sins and cities of refuge etc.). Overall this, the NT sees the story of Numbers providing a pattern which prefigured the difficulties and challenges of our own journey as Christians through this wilderness world on our way to the heavenly country (see 1 Cor. 10; Heb. 3-4). Yes, there are parts of Numbers that seem boring or difficult (as the title ‘Numbers’ implies!), but all the more reason to attend this class where we can try and gain a better understanding of this strange but wonderful book.
